Anguilla Red Cross’ Second Annual 5K

March 27, 2015 By admin Leave a Comment

Get ready for Anguilla Red Cross’ Second Annual 5K!…

Taking place April 11th 2015 together with Saint James School of Medicine, the Anguilla Red Cross Response Team will be hosting its second annual 5K marathon.

A fun event for a worthwhile cause, all funds raised go directly to transforming an ambulance box with chassis into a mobile, solar-powered mobile First Aid Center. A tremendous benefit for the community, this will allow the Red Cross to attend to emergencies and injuries in a quick, efficient manner.

For more information, see below.

Artisan’s Misto Salami

March 25, 2015 By admin 2 Comments

My Mom and I dropped into Artisan this week for a little savory bite of something special.

Owners Juergen & Indra did not disappoint. Juergen explained each selection, specially imported from Miami: Mortadella, Speck, Bresaola, Coppa, Salami and Spicy Salami.

With homemade “Artisan” bread, olives and a glass of Chianti, it was exquisite (especially the Bresaola, a cured beef) and well-priced, too!

Artisan is located in Island Harbour.

Adorable White-Cheeked Pintail Ducks in Anguilla’s Wetlands

March 8, 2015 By admin Leave a Comment

Waterfowl continue to dominate the scene at many of Anguilla’s wetlands.  White-cheeked Pintail ducks like these are a resident breeding species found island-wide.  Often called Bahamian ducks, these birds are busy caring for their young at this time of year.

2-For-1 at Ocean Echo on Tuesdays

March 8, 2015 By admin Leave a Comment

Ocean Echo has put a twist on the “traditional” Happy Hour.
Theirs is held each and every Tuesday night, starting at 9pm.
A night of dancing just steps from the beach, DJ Kastro takes to the stage and all beer and mixed drinks are two for one. That includes owner Dillon’s famous Rumzie, too!…

Under The Sea With Shoal Bay Scuba

February 28, 2015 By admin Leave a Comment

Two friends were in-town visiting Anguilla this week. From hikes out to Iguana Cave, drives along every “scenic route,” they even jumped into the sea with Matthew Billington, owner of Shoal Bay Scuba nearly every day of their trip.

After two days of finishing their scuba certification, down to the shipwrecks they went!…

From the impressive wrecks, to the colorful schools of large fish only found in deeper waters, to a breathtaking Triggerfish…

… they even spotted a 10′ Spotted Eagle Ray. He put on quite a show, diving into the sand and twirling throughout the sea trying to shake a Remora off his back!

Of course, the camera had to die just in time for that spectacular sight. 😉

With the ultra-professional Matthew at their side, they were in good hands, exploring Anguilla’s deep.
