Steak Kebabs & Good Company at Roy’s

November 1, 2015 By admin Leave a Comment

Roy’s has re-opened and we couldn’t be happier!

Their steak kebab is our go-to menu favorite. Skewered and char-grilled to perfection, sizable chunks of Angus beef are lined up with thick slices of onion, red pepper and mushrooms.

The dish is served with your choice of vegetables/salad and hand-cut fries.

Reasonably priced, and with a basket of Johnny cakes to start the meal off, the food never fails to delight at Roy’s.

And, owners Mandy, Roy, Claire and Patrick always make you feel right at home ๐Ÿ™‚

October 17, 2015 By admin Leave a Comment

Early last week (the calm before Hurricane Joaquin sent lightning showers our way), Anguilla was treated to evening after evening of sensational sunsets.

Serene and pristine, there’s no better place to take in an Anguilla sunset than at Ocean Echo on magnificent Meads Bay…

What makes a sunset even sweeter?

Owner Dillon’s famous Rumzie, perfectly sweet, full of rum and garnished with a cherry and slice of orange, Dillon will never share his secret recipe!

Elite, a Tranquil Lunch Escape

September 27, 2015 By admin Leave a Comment

Tucked away on the tranquil side of idyllic Island Harbour, Elite has long been a top (yet largely undiscovered) spot for fine Italian cuisine.

Mixed salad, with Parmesan shavings…

Penne Bolognese…

Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli…

… are some of our favorites (my Dad always opts for their fish carpaccio of the day and the lobster ravioli and my sister’s pick is their baked ham and cheese panini).

Enjoyed while gazing out to Scilly Cay, a tranquility wrapped in blue view doesn’t get better than this!

The combination of serene scenery and delectable cuisine is a match made in paradise ๐Ÿ™‚

Elite is open daily and is staying open throughout the off-season.

The Calm After the Storm at Ocean Echo

September 12, 2015 By admin Leave a Comment

A couple of weeks back we had an interesting stormy weekย here in Anguilla!

The Leeward Islands experienced not one but two tropical storm warnings. First, with Danny and then with Erika. We battened down the hatches and braced ourselves for impending wind, waves and rain.

What followed? Just mild stormy weather, thankfully.

Danny washed over us with barely a drop of rain and only slight waves and wind. Erika was right on Danny’s heels, following only two days later, bringing stronger gusts and higher seas…

… and not much else. Thankfully, Erika was kind to us!

Now? There’s another tropical depression brewing. We’re keeping a watchful eye, but in the meantime Anguilla is back to tranquility wrapped in blue…

And, there is no better spot to enjoy these blissfully calm, clear seas than at Ocean Echo’s open-air restaurant right on the sands of Meads Bay. It’s the season where you have the beach all to yourself, too ๐Ÿ™‚

With excellent appetizers of seafood chowder…

… (other pizza options include jerk chicken and crayfish!), in addition to burgers, sandwiches, salads, pastas and grilled seafood of all kinds, the dining experience never disappoints at Ocean Echo.

Ocean Echo is staying open through the season. Drop by for lunch and/or dinner any day of the week!

For an interesting selection of the freshest ingredients, prepared with creative flair, choosing to dine Omakase-style, where Chef Joe personally selects each dish, is a true foodie experience!

On a recent visit to Tokyo Bay, what was on that evening’s Omakase “menu”?…
