There are still people who think Anguilla's beaches were destroyed
in Hurricane Lenny. It isn't true. Gilbert Fleming went out on Nov 28th, 1999
(less than 10 days after the storm) and took beach pictures which he put them on the web: Click Here.
The beaches look even better now.

Honeymoon Feedback.
Joette Phillips (email: [email protected]) wrote on Tuesday, January 25, 2000:
My husband and I spent our honeymoon on Anguilla last August. We are anxious to return and will make this perfect island our permanent vacation destination.
We spent one week at the Round House at Cove Bay--not enough time to enjoy the beautiful
beaches and wonderful restaurants. Can't wait to taste pumpkin soup and crayfish creole once again!!

For the Children.
Malliouhana Hotel has expanded its beach
facilities with kids in mind - even big kids. The newly opened beach complex features
a 60' water slide, a fantastic pirate ship in a shallow pool, and an extension of the resorts playground.
For the young-at-heart, hours can be wiled away in the new beachside restaurant:
"Le Bistro" and the 11' deep diving pool.
There is also a new multi-purpose meeting room which will cater for weddings,
parties, receptions and small conferences. [From the AHTA newsletter.]

The Daily Herald Offers Island News.
A new feature on The Daily Herald web site
is island news. Previously only the front page stories of the newspaper appeared
on the web site and this was 99% St. Marteen and Netherland Antilles news. But the paper
also carries many good stories from Anguilla, Saba, etc., and now some of those
will be featured on the web site as well.
The first Anguilla story I noticed, Click Here, is
about a feasability study on developing Shoal Bay's Fountain Cavern and its Amerindian petroglyphs.

Savannah Gallery Expands.
This art gallery has recently renovated an old garage which was
inconspicuously attached to the western side of their charming old building, and
converted it into an extra show room. The garage, which once housed Teacher Ruby's
typing class, was added on to the 100+ year old house around 1950. More on

Better LIAT Schedule.
As a result of several meetings between LIAT and Minister of Tourism Hubert Hughes
and Director of Tourism Amelia Vanterpool-Kubish, connections from the UK to
Anguilla through Antigua should be much easier. Three new connecting flights have been
added and other flights have been adjusted to make connections with trans-atlantic flights
easier. [From the AHTA newsletter.]

Corrected Internet Access Info.
Pat Hunte at Cable and Wireless pointed out that gateway IP address was
out of date on our Communication Page.
Here are the correct configuration values to access the Internet in Anguilla:
Local domain name is anguillanet.com
Gateway IP address is 206.48.59.1
DNS server is 206.48.59.10 (domain name server)
POP and SMTP server is mail.anguillanet.com
Blue Waters. I just talked to a visitor
who is staying at Blue Waters Beach Apartments
in the West End. He says they suffered cruelly in Hurricane Lenny but have
been fixed up (by the family of the Anguillian owners) and are fine now.

Full Moon Beach Dance.
Listen to live Caribbean music and dance right on
the beach (on a portable wooden dance floor!):
Friday night, January 21, 2000. The place is the
Full Moon beach party at Serenity Restaurant
on Upper Shoal Bay. If you are going for dinner first, call 1-264-497-3328 for a reservation.
Virgin Islands AM Radio. We left WSTA St Thomas 1340 AM off our
Anguilla radio list. They also have
a "streaming" signal on the web at www.wsta.com,
which means you should be able to hear it in their browsers from anywhere.
They have regional weather
several times a day and do a regional news report at noon
(Voice of Paradise - which is also on the web at www.caribbeanchannel.com).

Seven Palms Villa.
Here is a web site that I stumbled upon for a 7bd/7ba, 11,000 sq ft villa
on the Searocks (between Shoal Bay and Island Harbour): Complete with vanishing edge swimming pool.
Of course it is a bit misleading to show unmarked pictures of St Martin on a web site for an Anguilla villa.
