Our Trip

Dear Bob:
Thank you for your great newsletter, and your wonderful website, they are a wealth of knowledge, and I enjoy them both very much!

After waiting 9 years, we finally made our first trip to Anguilla in January 2005. We stayed in a beach front villa at the Rendezvous Bay Hotel

It was fabulous having the beach right out the door!

We would take long walks along the beach and marvel at the cotton trees along the way!

We saw some interesting people,

[Click to enlarge] [Click to enlarge]

unbelievable sunsets,

and gorgeous scenery.

It truly was the trip of a lifetime, we can hardly wait to return!

Thank you for letting me reminisce!

Summer at Shoal Bay

Villa La Vanda at Shoal Bay is available at a special rate of $180/night in the off season. This one bedroom cottage is unbelieveably charming, plus it has a totally private walled garden and you can walk to the beach in 2 minutes.

Comments by Peg and Jerry, Boulder, Colorado:

"Jerry and I were so impressed with La Vanda, from the moment we arrived. From your generous hospitality of a rum punch on arrival and giving us a ride to the grocery store on the second day, to the gorgeous gardens and beautiful accomodations, everything was just perfect. Your beach and all of Anguilla's beaches are the most beautiful we've ever seen, and the locals were very friendly. We loved the fact that no cruise ships could get to the island - it made things so much more peaceful and personal."

Anguilla Says Goodbye To Revolutionary Hero Atlin Harrigan OBE

A contingent from the Royal Anguilla Police Force bore the body of the late Atlin Harrigan, OBE, shoulder height into the House of Assembly Chambers and three officers leaned head bowed over their rifles on Friday, February 18th, 2005. That was the moving scene as the Government paid tribute to a fallen hero who was in the forefront of the islands 1967 revolution. From The Anguillian

AARF Treasure Hint Jill Walker of Animal Rescue writes:

I'd like to invite you all to the upcoming FIRST ANNUAL AARF TREASURE HUNT. I've done it with friend for 4 years now and thought it would be good to have a larger group while helping out the animals of the island. - and it's been a really fun time for all. Kids over 7 are welcome- its a fun family time -And clues will challenge the adults' minds!! Sunday, March 6th we meet at Roy's Bayside Grill at 3 pm for the initial start-off clues, to make teams (usually 2-4 people/car) and find out guidelines and instructions.

Dinner at Roy's is optional afterwards, but we've always found it fun to talk over which clue stumped you or how difficult it was to find the plastic baggie under the rock, in the pipe, etc. Clues will take you to a location but then you must do some 'looking around' to find the plastic bag. (this is what the children enjoyl). Anyway, let me know if you are up for it so I will know how many clues I will need to hide in each bag (each team takes out their one paper and re-hides the bag for the next team to find).

Also, we need to know numbers of people staying for dinner at Roy's in Sandy Ground, so please send me that info as well. I'd like to have all the numbers figured out by Saturday, March 6th at 6 pm. Hope to see you at this Fund Raising Event for our Furry Friends of Anguilla!. (AARF) - Jill Walker. 497-2506

Election Results

RadioAXA has the results on their web site (probably unofficial): all the incumbents have been re-elected: Kenneth Harrigan, Osbourne Fleming, Victor Banks, Eddie Baird, Hubert Hughes and Albert Hughes. In district 3, where the incumbent Eric Reid had retired, the winner was Neil Rogers of the United Front (that is the party that formed the last government). With the United Front having a majority of 4 seats again, they should be able to form the new government.
