St Barts Renovation:
Anguilla Construction:
|
This is the web site for the three villas that I built on Anguilla and the villa that I am
renovating in St Barts (see Azu Villa Renovation Page), plus
tropical construction tips and resources as well. These construction projects started in 1997, although
land acquisition and architectural planning started in 1995. Every stage of the construction is recorded here.
We rent the villa in St Barts and the guest cottage in Anguilla (La Vanda)
and the villa at the top of the Anguilla property (Mimosa), but we
keep the beachfront house and pool for our own use. And we
have created a name and web page for the overall completed property:
Bellamare
For details on the main Anguilla beachfront house, visit the Residence Construction Page.
For the technology center,
visit the "Clubhouse" Construction Page.
And finally, for the guest cottage, our first attempt at construction on Anguilla,
visit the La Vanda Construction Page.

The painters first step was to inspect the metal roof (almost all
roofs in St Barts are metal) and tighten fasteners, in preparation
for repainting the roof. Our roof is, and remains white, which is
the best color for reflecting the heat of the sun. Most roofs in
St Barts are still red, but that is slowly changing.
Bedroom number 1 in the upper bungalow had not been used by holiday
renters in recent years and needed repairs (new tile on deck, new railing, new posts).
Here is Doplhi's crew tearing up the old tile in preparation for laying
new stone tile.
By the way, for easier reference, we have numbered the bedrooms 1 and 2 in the upper bungalow
and 3 and 4 in the lower bungalow.
Here is Dolphi, the contractor for the deck repairs and replastering of
the main bungalow.
Humorous interlude: here is a shot of the deck showing the facia board,
which has a volunteer plant growing out of it!
Here is the deck, cleaned and ready for repairs, with tree removed.
