This is the web site for the three villas that I built on Anguilla and the villa that I am renovating in St Barts (see Azu Villa Renovation Page), plus tropical construction tips and resources as well. These construction projects started in 1997, although land acquisition and architectural planning started in 1995. Every stage of the construction is recorded here.

We rent the villa in St Barts and the guest cottage in Anguilla (La Vanda) and the villa at the top of the Anguilla property (Mimosa), but we keep the beachfront house and pool for our own use. And we have created a name and web page for the overall completed property: Bellamare

Living Room Doors and Windows
The living room/pool pavilion also doubles as the main entry to the house. Here you can see the front porch and the wooden entry doors (purple heart wood, but they are going to be painted!)
The view as you enter the house is is straight out over the pool to the ocean.
The windows will have solid awning windows (hinged at the top) instead of glass and clear transoms for light (the arches at the top).
There is one larger window on the west side that opens on a private walled garden. This will also have a solid awning.
Here are the awning windows before being painted.
The 12-foot arched openings on the east and north side have sliding glass doors that open up completely.
When opened, the doors slide into the walls.

February 2001: Walls, Walls, Walls...
Continuing the reports to bring this site up to the present, we are now up to February 2001, when we created new courtyards and landscaping rock walls, as work continued on finish details in the buildings.
The living room is also the main entry to the house and the pool pavillion. When you enter you look ahead through a 12-foot opening to the pool and the ocean. Pictured above is the east side of the living room, with another 12-foot opening. This patio has an arbor which will be vine covered. Under this arbor will be the main dining table.
Notice the wall forming to the left. This will enclose a garden courtyard that is formed by the living room, the kitchen/study building, the master bath garden wall and the garage.
Above is the entry to the house, living room in the center, walled courtyard to the right. Notice the wall forming to the left of the living room. This will be another small garden.

On the ocean side we added a curved planter along the master porch. As you can see, this wall is faced in rock.
