Exploring Scrub Island

Anguilla, Caribbean

Walking Along the Coast

chart

After giving up on salvaging the rusted resort equipment, we climb a small hill that we think must overlook the airstrip. Much to our surprise, when we reach the top, we are looking over the south coast to St Martin and St Barths! Where is the airport?

However, this looks like a quicker, easier way back, since there is little bush along the coast to get in our way.

Almost immediately we stumble upon an opening in the rock which forms a wide stone bridge. We continue along the barren coast. The walking does turn out to be relatively easy, although you must watch where you put your feet on the eroded coral (there are lots of holes where you could twist an ankle).

After walking along the coast for ten minutes, we encounter another stone bridge! But this one makes the previous one pale by comparison.

Naturally we have to pose on the bridge, but at least no one jumps up and down trying to break it.

From the stone bridge we can see a beach that looks familiar? Is it Scrub Bay that we started from, or Souse Bay (the second beach we explored), or some third beach? We finish the last of our water and walk on.
