CTP CHAIRMAN COACHES DAVIS CUP TEAM

Richard Ferdinand (L) with US Davis Cup Coach, Patrick McEnroe

The Valley, Anguilla (March, 2002) -- Richard Ferdinand, Chairman of Anguilla-based Caribbean Tennis Professionals (CTP) has been appointed coach of the Trinidad & Tobago Davis Cup team.
Himself, a former national player for his native Trinidad & Tobago, Ferdinand's 16 years of experience as a tennis pro, makes him well prepared for this new role. As if to assert his readiness for this appointment, one of his Jamaican charges, top junior Dustin Brown, recently jumped 105 places in the ITF junior rankings to #61 following very positive performances on a South American tour and Brown credits Ferdinand for his contribution to his successes.
T&T (powered by the talented Stone brothers; Shane and Troy, and T&T national champion, Ivor Grazette) last year advanced into Group 2 of the Davis Cup American Zone and Ferdinand now faces the challenge of solidifying his country's position in this Group. The Trinidad & Tobago team travels to Cuba for their next Cup tie from April 1 8.
Always a popular tennis coach wherever he is based, Ferdinand also commands an all-round grasp of the tennis industry as a whole. He is a member of several premier tennis bodies including the International Council of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Caribbean Tennis Professionals is a full service tennis management company with several sites including Tryall Club, Montego Bay, Jamaica where Ferdinand, himself, is Tennis Director. Under his directorship, Tryall Club was voted Best Caribbean Tennis Resort in May 2001 by the Tennis Resorts Online website. CTP also manages Silent Waters in Jamaica and here in Anguilla runs Cap Juluca and Cuisinart Resort & Spa.
