Pictures of the Garden Party.
Each year in February there is a Garden Party on the grounds of
Wallblake House and St. Gerard's Catholic Church. Dining on good
West Indian food, drinking, dancing, and lots of talking. There are three
food lines! And Sprocka performs for the dancers.

Triathalon.
The Optimist Triathalon is scheduled for October 1st. As in
previous years the 3-person teams can compete in either
the serious category or the fun category. Bicycle, road run, and swim.
Craft Group Fair.
The Anguilla Craft Group is holding their annual fair
March 17, 2001, from 11am to 3pm, on the grounds
of the Governor's house in Old Ta. Lots of fun food, crafts,
and exhibits. Raises funds for art education.

Fred Thompson, Hotelier of the Year
The tourist board and the hotel association have named Fred Thompson,
general manager of Carimar Beach Club
as their Hotelier of the Year. The award is a 3 foot solid mahogany sculpture
of the three dolphins (a national symbol in Anguilla), crafted by Cheddie Richardson.
Fred heads a team at Carimar that are also award winners in their
own right: Avon Webster (1992 Employee of the Year), Delroy Lake
(1996 Supervisor of the Year), and Heather Gumbs (1999 Employee of
the Year). Ms. Gumbs is also the brains behind the Carimar Social Club,
which has lead such community programs as the adoption of West End
Primary School and the Hello Tourist program. This award is sponsored
by the Scotiabank in Anguilla.

Soroptomist Variety Concert.
All the exceptional local talent. March 15, 2001 at 8pm.
Ruthwill Auditorium in The Valley (across from the drug
store and the CCB bank). US$10. Recommended for tourists
who want to get a taste of local life.
"Island Tour" Art Exhibition.
Cheddie's Carving Studio is presenting an exhibition of island art
by five Anguillian artists: Melsadis Fleming, Corvette Richardson,
Louise Brooks, Charles Connoor, and Cheddie Richardson. Also show art
by students Davon Ruan, Jasen Hodge and Daryl Thompson. Special
guest artist: Marianno Brown, specializing in "Dinanderie", relief
art in red copper, brass and aluminum.
Exhibit opens March 8, 2000 and runs until April 8, 10am to 6pm.
Moonsplash Update.
Bankie Banx and Altamer Resort announce the guest artists for
the 11th Annual Moonsplash Music Festival,
a 3 day event March 9-11 at the Dune Preserve
on Rendezvous Bay. Grammy Award nominee Freddie McGregor is the headline act
this year. Also featured is Radio Jamaica's MC Gary-G, from New York Eden White,
Sheriff Uncle Bob and Junior Jazz, the Millenium Band of Miami, Colours out of
St. Martin, plus Anguilian bands such as The Pumphouse Band, RED, Sleepy
and the All-Stars, the Reggae Groovers, plus Bankie Banx and the Dune People.
International Tae Kwon Do Tournaments.
The members of the Anguilla National Tae Kwon Do Club are getting
more skilled every year. President and Instructor Emmanuel Laud,
has recently been appointed Third Dan Blakc Belt. The club's dream
is to one day represent Anguilla in the Olympics. The club has competed
before internationally and done well. This year they need to compete
in tournaments in Jamaica and Grenada, plus a world games tournament
in Italy. Accordingly, they are raising funds for the team, which
includes four Black Belts, three Brown Belts, one Red Belt, one Purple Belt,
two Green Belts, two Yellow Belts and one White Belt. If you would like

Classical Music Concert.
The Anguilla Community Foundation is presenting another night
of classical music, with world-renowned pianist Anthony Molinaro
at Bethel Methodist Church, South Hill, Friday March 9 at 7:30pm.
Proceeds from the concert with support the work of the Foundation.
US$20 for concert, US$30 for concert and reception with the arts.
Tickets at the drug store, Devonish Gallery, Keene Enterprises and
members of the board.
Anthony Molinaro won the Naumburg Prize in 1997 and his recital
performances have taken him to Boston, Chicago, Dallas and New York.
He has been described as "edge-of-the-seat brilliance...with technical
skills to bring off the most difficult of Rachmaninoff's concertos."

Sailing Adventure Continues.
Steve Donahue finally started the third leg of his solo sail from
the northeast to Anguilla, leaving Ft. Lauderdale for the Bahamas.But then he turned back.

Club Donates To Cultural Education Festival.
The Anguilla Library Computer Club has donated it's entire bank
balance, US$416.25, to the 2001 Cultural Education Festival, which
started last weekend: Click Here.
Agricultural and Industrial Fair.
The grounds of the agricultural department have undergone a transformation
since being inundated by Hurricane Lenny. There are greenhouses full of plants,
exhibits of livestock and unusual animals like Guinnea Fowl, gardens, walkways...
very impressive. This weekend's fair was a big success with farmer's showing
their produce, exhibits, crafts, plants for sale, local food, and more. Below you see
