[Click to enlarge] Anguilla will be full of fun for Christmas and New Year's. From Santa visits… to gourmet dining… to "liming" (hanging out) or partying through the night ... this is the place to be! Here's a sample of what's going on in December 2001 ...

Below is a selection of special holiday evenings and menus (listed in alphabetical order), but almost every hotel and restaurant has something special planned for Christmas and New Years.

chilled crayfish tails with cocktail sauce

Asparagus Salad
steamed fresh asparagus served cold with Bearnaise sauce

ENTREES

Lamb Shanks Osso Bucco Style
tender lamb on the bone, oven braised with vegetables and served with creamed potatoes or pasta

Shellfish Creole
crayfish, shrimp, clams and mussels in a spicy tomato based broth served over pasta

DESSERT

Mango Mousse
laced with raspberry sauce

Christmas Day

oysters Rockefeller, clams casino and baked mussels

ENTREES

Prime Rib Roast Of Beef
sliced off the bone and served with horseradish cream sauce

Braised Pheasant
Partially boned pheasant oven braised to tender perfection in apple cider and herbsserved with a savory dried plum and apricot stuffing, au jus sauce

DESSERT

Tropical Tipsy Trifle
rum soaked cake layered with custard, and fruits topped with whipped cream

Traditional English Christmas Pudding
steamed dark fruit pudding aged with rum, served with brandy sauce

New Year's Eve

Dinner Special

with Dmitri Loutsiv and Dumpa

Join us at Altamer Restaurant for an evening to remember.

Start the evening with a cocktail at the bar, overlooking the lights of St. Martin or sit right down to begin the 5-course meal prepared by Executive Chef Maurice Leduc. Relax and eat at the seaside restaurant listening to the waves roll onto the beach. During your meal you will be enchanted by the sounds of international award winning pianist Dmitri Loutsiv who will begin is program at 6:00pm and play on to 10:00pm.

Following Dmitri, Anguillian Michael "Dumpa" Martin and his ensemble will take over the entertainment on the steel pans. As one of the Caribbean's renowned steel pan players, the atmosphere in the restaurant will be charged up for the New Year. Dancing will begin after when the meals are finished for those of you in the mood to dance their way into the New Year. For those looking for a romantic alternative can remain at their table or sit by the beach with a cognac watching the many firework displays on the nearby island of St. Martin.

A glass of complimentary champagne will be served for the toast at midnight.

Seating is limited for this program and meal that you will be talking about well into the New Year.

palate refreshing iced mulled wine

Almond Crusted Grouper
fillet of fresh grouper coated with almond crust, white wine sauce

Twice Roasted Crisp Duckling
roast duckling deboned and served crisp with orange mandarin sauce

Double Lamb Loin Chops grilled With Rosemary
grilled New Zealand lamb loin chops, demi glaze sauce and mint jelly

Dover Sole Topped With Shrimp
filleted and sautéed topped with lemon parsley shrimp

Lobster Thermidor
fresh local lobster meat in Mornay sauce topped with cheese gratin and mushrooms

Prime Rib Roast Of Beef
sliced off the bone and served with horseradish cream sauce

entrees served with assortment of fresh vegetables, potato or rice

Baked Alaska
strawberry ice cream coated with meringue and baked to order

For Christmas Night we'll be featuring a special starter and main course as well as our regular menu. Please note that we will not be serving lunch on Christmas Day and we will not open at all on Christmas Eve as it falls on a Monday.

New Year's Eve

We are featuring two special New Year's Eve menu options. (Menus below). One at $80 and another at $120 with a special glass of wine with each course. We will also serve our regular menu as an option (for early diners only). Tel. (264)-497-4290.

December 25, 2001, Frangipani presents a sumptuous Caribbean buffet brunch around its beautiful swimming pool from 10:30 am until 3:30pm. Cost US$25.00 plus service. Children four to twelve years old pay half price.

Prefixed dinner inclusive of wine begins at 7:30 pm. to 9:30 pm US$40.00, plus service, per person.

New Year's Eve

December 31, 2001, Frangipani celebrates its annual Grand New Year's Eve party, which features:

- A four course dinner (see menu below)
- Live music by The Xtreme Band
- Party Favors
- Fire works on the beach
- US$125.00, plus service for dinner and dance
- $20.00, plus service for champagne, party favors and dance

As always Santa Claus comes to his Anguilla Grotto at Ripples...6pm - 8pm. All children receive a present and a photo of themselves with Santa...this of course is free...Dinner is served as usual…with a special kiddies menu ...later the grown ups party hearty well into the wee hours..

Christmas Day

Dinner is served at 7pm. Reservations please…it is very popular… The whole restaurant is full of festive feeling with Christmas crackers .... Traditional roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings…with Christmas pudding and minced pies and custard...US$25 plus service charge…a very friendly atmosphere....there will be a fish alternative for non turkey eaters.

New Year's Eve

For New Years Eve we will have two seatings. The first, between 6:30-7:00 will include our regular menu or a special, six-course chef's tasting menu for $75/person. This is for people who would like to have a great dinner and then go somewhere else to ring in the new year! The later seating will begin at 9:00-9:30 and will only include the special tasting menu will also have live music (with Mitch) and includes a complimentary glass of champagne for each guest, noise maker and funny hats. The cost for the later seating is $95/person.
