Tropical Storm Maria Headed To Anguilla
Tropical Storm Maria is heading towards Anguilla at 20 mph. Steve Donohue from Anguilla-weather.com reports…..
“Wind speeds are around 40 mph with some strengthening to about 60 mph (with higher gusts) by the time it reaches us Sat. afternoon.” As you can see from the map above, Steve says…
“The current forecast calls for the storm to arrive Saturday afternoon. With a forecasted increase in forward speed, I would expect earlier Sat. afternoon.”
“On the present track, we will start feeling tropical force winds (extend out 80 mi. to the NE) mid-Sat. morning. Seas are forecast to be in the 12 – 15 ft. range from the SE so southern facing beaches should expect beach erosion. ”
“The further north the storm, the better for us – but with a large fluctuation with the models, we’ll need to wait and see. I would expect at least heavy rain and gusty winds all day Sat. into Sunday. Probably a hurricane hunter will investigate tomorrow or Friday morning.”
“I would suggest any preparations/boat hauling be completed by Friday night because of the forecasted increase in speed.”
Sound advice, Steve. This one looks like it’s heading straight towards us. Let’s hope that it turns north earlier than projected and that it doesn’t get any stronger than a Tropical Storm
